A few days ago I made a comic for Screwattack titled Mom "plays" 2 player.
http://screwattack.com/node/14194
It's a simple gag that I didn't think would gather much attention seeing as how none of my comics do. Boy was I wrong. When I checked Screwattack after posting it, it had 71 diggs. I thought "Hey! I might get 100 diggs and get the 1000 point prize" So I went to bed, and the next morning I check screwattack and the digg counter is at 987 diggs. At first I thought something was wrong. No way it could have gotten that many, but it was legit. At the time of typing this post, it has 2281 diggs, and a few people on screwattack have sent me private messages saying that this is the largest number of diggs any story has ever gotten on Screwattack. If so, that's pretty amazing considering it's just a comic. It was actually at the number 2 spot on the front page of digg.com in all topics for a while. I didn't get a snapshot, but I got a snapshot of it in third.
The people on digg.com aren't too happy about it though. All the comments are hateful because they're mad that a comic was more popular than their "well written" articles. It's not my fault your article is too long to keep people's attention.
So it has a crazy amount of diggs, but I've also seen it pop up on many other sites, blogs, and forums. It is by far the most popular comic I have ever made, and it pleases me to no end. It's also cool since this comic was the first appearance of Joel and Hairu's mom. (Joel and Hairu are two of my characters) It's certainly a good first impression for the character, so she will most likely become a regular now. This will probably always be my most successful comic. Oddly enough though, it hasn't gotten much attention on my deviantart.

SPRay release date delays
It's no secret that I'm not that into the Wii anymore. In fact, the only game I really got into was Mario Galaxy and the Strong Bad games. I even learned to hate Endless Ocean when I found out you can only find certain fish at certain times of the in game year, and there are some fish you only get one chance at befriending. That ruined Endless Ocean for me, and made me decide to not get the sequel when it comes out.
There IS one game I've been interested in though, and it is called SPRay. (Yes, the capitals are supposed to be there)
The only problem with this game is nobody seems to know when the hell it's coming out. IGN originally said the 28th of October. On the 28th I went to EBGames and they said it was coming out on the 11th of November. I then asked HMV and they said the 18th. I asked a different EBGames the next day, and they said the 12th. A different EBGames said the 13th. At this point I'm pretty annoyed. So I wait a few days before asking again, and now they say the 19th. So I just gave up at this point and waited for the 19th. The 19th comes, I go to HMV, and they say it's coming out on the 16th of December. So I ask the EBGames and they say the 20th of December. I check gamestop and they say the 9th of December. I check another site and they say the 15th of December.
...
Look, if you don't know when a game is coming out, JUST SAY YOU DON'T KNOW! STOP PULLING THESE FAKE RELEASE DATES OUT OF ASSES!!!
Honestly, it's the ONE Wii game I've actually been looking forward too, and it's been delayed a zillion times. Is this a sign of cancellation? Frequent release date changes often mean a game will be canceled. That would be the second to final kick in the balls for me as a Wii owner.
Unless HAL gets their head in the game and makes that Kirby Platformer for Wii, I'm thinking the Wii is dead for me. And if the Wii Kirby game isn't a platformer, THAT would be the final kick in the balls, and knife in the heart for me as a Wii owner. Kirby's only had one game per console since the N64, so chances are good he won't get two on Wii. MAINLY BECAUSE HE ONLY APPEARS IN THE LAST YEAR OF A SYSTEM'S LIFE CYCLE! If Kirby had just forgotten about Air Ride and focused on that canceled platformer, he would have rocked. He would have only needed one game on Game Cube if that was released.
Of course there is still the last episode of Strong Bad, but that's not much. Come on Tecmo, just release SPRay already! And HAL, get working on Kirby! Just port the Game Cube Platformer that everyone drooled over! And Nintendo, get working on the next 3D Mario game! There's no law stating that you can only have ONE per system. And why the hell has there been no Touch Detective on Wii? Come on, it's a point and click game! Just because IGN didn't like them doesn't mean a new one won't sell. Just change the name to Mackenzie and Funghi: Quest for Cromwell's Treasure, and you're golden!
Come on Wii, hit me with some good stuff. GOOD stuff.

Ebay stuff
So the Ena figure arrived, and I absolutely love it. It's super cute. It also wasn't a bootleg! I saw a figure of Chika from Ichigo Mashimaro on ebay, and if I had enough money, I would have bought it on the spot. Chika is my favourite character from that series, and she was actually in a pretty hot pose despite being 12 years old. *Anime Pedophile* I really wanted it, but the 90 dollar price tag was intimidating. I actually had 78 dollars on paypal, and actually started a transfer of money so I could afford it, but after a while, I was unsure if I should buy it. I decided not too, but just to make sure I didn't, I bought some other stuff instead. If I ever find the same figure on ebay for a cheaper price, I will probably buy it. Chika is awesome, and that figure is pretty hot. *Anime Pedophile*
So the first thing I bought instead of the figure was the Game Boy version of Kid Icarus. I played this game a long time ago, and recently replayed it on an emulator. Only problem is the rom crashes after you beat the second final boss. So I get all the way to the end and don't get to see the ending. This is one game that is actually worth buying the cartridge rather than playing the Rom. And as a side note, the NES Kid Icarus sucks. The only thing that's way better in the NES version is the music. The Game Boy version music is horrible.
The other thing I bought was a promotional poster for Kirby Super Star Ultra, which was apparently only available to retail stores. (At least that's what the item description claims) It's 28 inches tall and 22 inches long, so it's a decent sized poster. Unfortunately I couldn't get it by itself. It also comes with a Wario Land Shake it poster, which is fine since I like that game, but I would have rather paid a cheaper price and only get the one I really wanted. I don't think hanging a big ugly poster of Wario right next to a big poster of Cute Kirby will work very well. And besides, who would want a big picture of Wario hanging on their wall? He isn't exactly eye candy. I don't think I'll be hanging that one up, but I'm not going to give it away or anything.
So those things are coming my way sometime. I don't think the posters will arrive before Christmas though. They said 2-3 weeks, and there will likely be a mail strike right before Christmas, so it will be a while. Not sure how long the Game Boy game will take to get here.
I'll probably be doing more shopping though as I did transfer money before deciding not to buy the figure. I might wait for the second Angry Video Game Nerd DVD to come out before buying anything. Though I'm always on the look out for more Kirby 4koma manga.

Pokemon Ranger 2 is still bad
Way back in March I imported the Japanese version of Pokemon Ranger Battonage (Or Pokemon Ranger 2) I was less than impressed. HAL wasn't involved with the project which was a mortal blow to the game as it sucked so bad. They dumbed down the difficulty, they made the tutorial last forever, and the characters aren't as cool. Overall, it just wasn't as fun. I never got too far in it, so I decided, "I'll wait until the US version. Maybe it'll make more sense."
So I wait until freaking November for the game to come out, and I'm still disappointed. All the same problems are there, except now I can read the crummy dialogue and boring tutorial.
Now don't get me wrong. I f*cking love the first Pokemon Ranger. It is by far my favourite Pokemon game ever, and I just loved everything about it. It was fun, unique, well written, and overall pretty challenging for a Pokemon game. I'm such a dork I even searched ebay and bought the manga of it. Pokemon Ranger 1 rocks, which makes the sequel that much more of a let down.
Every once in a while in the sequel you hear about your classmate in the Fiore region (where the first game took place) and you hear about Professor Hastings (also from the first game.) You also hear the same music in the Ranger base as the first game. These elements really make you just wish you were playing the first game rather than this pile of sh*t. I mean, I'm more than 2 hours into the game and I'm still being taught stuff.
Overall, Pokemon Ranger Shadows of Almia blows. It's boring, too easy, and simply not fun. If you played and enjoyed the first one, I recommend staying away from this sequel. Unless the game gets a lot harder later on, I have a feeling I won't be replaying this one when I finish it.
It's a crying shame that the game sucks. I'm sure if HAL was still in charge of it, it would be as awesome as the first, but sadly, HAL ditched it and left it to "Creatures" to ruin the franchise. I think this pretty much guarantees there won't be a third one.

Wisdom Teeth Removed
Yesterday I had my wisdom teeth removed, and the pain hasn't been as bad as I thought. In fact, my whole family is pretty amazed at how well I'm taking it. I got them removed yesterday, but I didn't feel up to writing a blog post.
I had four wisdom teeth, (unlike my brother who somehow had five (no joke. He really had five wisdom teeth)) and they all came out fine according to the doctor.
Eating was very frustrating the first day since I couldn't have anything I had to chew very much. My dinner yesterday was two small cans of Chicken Noodle Soup, and my snack before bed was some apple sauce my mom bought. I will tell you now that it was the greatest friggin apple sauce I've ever had in my life. It was really really good.
My mom and dad kept telling me that I was going to have a very hard time getting, and staying asleep the first night. Fortunately one of the side effects of one of my tourettes medication is drowsiness, and I take that before bed. I seriously cannot sleep without that pill.
I went to bed around 10PM, and it was hard to get in a comfortable position on my side that wasn't putting pressure on my cheek, but once I found the right pose, I slept like a log until 6AM without getting up once for the bathroom or a painkiller. I got up at 6am, had some more apple sauce and attempted to go back to bed. Finding out that it was hopeless to try, I got up again at 6:30AM, had my morning medication, and had more breakfast.
This morning I was brave and had an untoasted piece of bread with peanut butter on it. (crusts removed due to teeth pain) It was hard to eat, and I couldn't finish it, but it was a treat to have peanut butter again. (life without peanut butter would suck.)
I guess the most annoying things about the teeth pain aren't really about the pain itself. It's about doing things that CAUSE pain. For instance, I can't wear headphones, I can't laugh, I can't sneeze, I can't yawn, I can't drink cold water, (has to be lukewark tap water) I can't eat ravioli, Beef Stew, Toast, or anything at Mcdonalds, and most importantly, I can't whistle. I'm a whistler, and I simply love to whistle tunes. Unfortunately, I cannot whistle due to the teeth. (or lack thereof) So this means I can't whistle Mario, Kirby, Pokemon, Portal, Kid Icarus, and all that fun stuff that I whistle all the time.
I guess the most annoying thing about this ordeal is that I constantly have to spit into a plastic cup, and I'm spitting up blood. If I had kep using the same plastic cup the whole time, I would have easily filled it up. That would be really gross though, so I frequently empty it.
In other news, I was able to pay for the Ena figure from Yotsuba. I was worried about that, so I'm pleased that is over.
The bad news is that when I tried to purchase some plush companion cubes (from Portal) on the Valve Store, it didn't work since I chose the wrong shipping method. Even worse, I payed with PayPal, and I don't think that they are going to refund it since they haven't done so. so that's 44 Canadian dollars down the tube without getting anything for it. So I say screw you Valve. I really wish my brother wasn't so friggin hard to Christmas shop for. If you get him anything media like a DVD or DS game, he'll say right to your face as soon as he opens it, "I could have just downloaded this" Oh yeah, I see you really appreciate the gift at least lie you friggin a-hole. What is REALLY annoying is that I know my brother has a Wii, but he doesn't know that I know, and I don't think he wants me to know. So I could easily buy him a Gamecube game, (Not a Wii game seeing as how he probably imported something to download them) but my mom doesn't want me too. I'm really thinking of just telling him I know about it, and ask if I can buy him a Gamecube game. I'm fed up with trying to get something nice for him that he would actually like, so I might just go up and ask him, "What the heck do you want me to get you for Christmas"

Touch Detective is still awesome
I've mentioned these games before on deviantart, but the Touch Detective games on the Nintendo DS are truly gaming masterpieces. They are fun, and have great characters with very established personalities.
The Touch Detective games have great writing, and are really funny. Touch Detective is definitely the funniest game I've played on the DS simply because of it's great writing, and just the way the dialogue is set up. The main character (Mackenzie) talks to people on the lower screen, but on the upper screen you can see what she is thinking during these conversations. This results in a lot of hilarious, yet subtle humour that really stands out. Of course the humour isn't limited to those thoughts. The conversations the characters have are funny too. The jokes are very subtle, and a lot of times they aren't even jokes at all. More often than not it's just how the characters react to the other characters that is so funny.
For instance, Mackenzie's friend Penelope is telling Mackenzie about a girl on the upper floor of the condo she lives in. Penelope says "She likes Hot Chocolate Milk. I personally don't like my Chocolate Milk to be hot." Then Mackenzie thinks to herself in the upper screen "Does she mean Hot Chocolate?"
It's very subtle stuff like that which is so funny. If you've ever watched or read Azumanga Daioh, Mackenzie's joke telling is a bit like Yomi's. Mackenzie points out the things the other character say that either don't make sense, or are wrong. Mackenzie also has other ways of being funny though, and doesn't rely on other characters' mistakes to be funny.
The art style is really great too, and the characters have very unique designs that make them all very different.
Touch Detective is a somewhat frustrating game the first time though since it IS pretty hard to figure out what to do next, but once you know how to do everything, THAT'S when this game becomes so great. I like to think of Touch Detective as a comedy detective TV show rather than a game. Touch Detective really is at it's best when you can see all of the humourous dialogue soon after each other. The first time through, you see some funny stuff, then you're stuck for 20 minutes. Once you finally figure out what to do, you see more funny stuff, then are stuck for 20 minutes. This really disrupts the flow of the humour when played like this, and once you know how to do everything and can see it all in a row, you'll find it a lot more enjoyable.
I've been stressed out lately, but after I popped Touch Detective into the DS, I was feeling great. Beating the game will be hard the first time, but it's really fun the second time.

online purchase stress
I've been totally stressed out by this online shopping stuff. At first I was juggling a lot of stuff around and was really stressed out, but it has gotten better now. I'm still stressed out about some things even though I really shouldn't be. I will stop worrying once I have actually paid for everything. I have purchased the Ena figure I mentioned in a previous post, but I can't pay for it until the 12th because that is when my money to paypal transfers. There is also a chance the payment won't work due to a certain issue, but I really shouldn't be worried since I'm about 80% sure it will work. Though now that I'm typing this, I'm starting to worry again.
I also have to wait until the 13th to buy something else online for my brother for Christmas, and I have no idea if that will work since I've never bought from that store. (It's not ebay) I will feel a lot better once everything is paid for, but I won't feel totally at peace until everything arrives. The lessons here are to never message a seller on ebay saying that you will buy an item from them. There is a chance you may end up not doing it. Also, never buy an item on ebay until you actually HAVE enough money to pay for it. Also, don't be in a panic to buy something because you think it will be gone by the time you can get it. I bought the Ena figure early since I thought it would be gone, but right after I bought that last one, the seller put two more of the same figure up for sale. Also, always check for other places to buy the item you are thinking of getting on ebay. The thing I wanted to get for my brother was actually available elsewhere for a cheaper price. My problem is I can only buy stuff online with paypal, so I'm limited to what stores i can choose from.
